MUSEUM BOARD, VOLUNTEERS GUESTS AT SANDERSON MUSEUM DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE

The 30 minute documentary Cannonballs, Anecdotes and Artifacts: The Wonderful Life of Christian Sanderson had its world premiere in Wilmington, Delaware Monday evening, October 23, 2006. Members of the Sanderson Museum board of directors as well as museum volunteers were invited to the private event.

Producer Karen Kuder organized the event, held in a screening room at "Theatre N" in the Nemours Building in downtown Wilmington. Founding curator and Sanderson biographer Thomas R. Thompson (to whom the documentary is dedicated), past president Richard McLellen, museum vice- president Chip Lohmann, curator Chuck Ulmann and board member Dean Camp represented the museum at the affair, along with Andrew Wyeth’s long-time model, Helga Testorf.

Besides Sanderson Museum volunteers, there were at least 50 other friends and relatives of Karen's there to cheer her along. Karen spoke both before and after the screening and called Tommy, Rich and Chip forward to be recognized after the film was shown. A Champagne reception provided by the restaurant where Karen is a chef was available before the screening and souvenir bags were handed out as well, some containing plastic soldiers!

Museum volunteer and Sanderson friend and neighbor Dick Miller, board members Karl Kuerner, the late Ann Wyeth McCoy, past presidents Andrew Wyeth, Tom Thompson and Rich McLellan and current vice president Chip Lohmann were interviewed as part of the film project, as well as former Pocopson Valley Boys, Jack Wilson and Charlie Wolf, and friend Jean Oakes.

Karen Kuder began filming in December 2000, with the museum board contributing to much of the final editing expenses.

The half-hour film contains still photos, home movies, TV clips and paintings all having to do with the life of Chris Sanderson and shows many views of the museum in both its past and present conditions. It touches on his careers as a fiddler, historian, broadcaster and his many other interests.

Karen took great pains in setting up the affair and everyone left with warm feelings both about Karen and her documentary. She told those assembled that she will try to get her film entered in as many film festivals as possible.

You may purchase a DVD of the documentary for $24.95 from archaeopictures.com, or by writing to:
